Sens Win 5-3

The Senators came out blazing….controlling play and getting quality shots on net.  But something happened, a goaltender interference penalty, followed by a slapshot from Bryan McCabe and somehow, the Sens were down 1-0 after the 1st period.

Sens fans were worried.  I’m pretty confident that its a fair statement.  But this team didn’t quit and kept coming after the Panthers.  Chris Kelly started it all by stealing the puck and dishing a nice saucer pass over to Milan Michalek for the short-handed one-timer, tying the game at 1.  Mike Fisher would pot a rebound and Zack Smith would bank one off Vokoun and suddenly, the Sens were up 3-1.

Quick start in the 3rd, when Alex Kovalev found a puck sitting on the goal line and was able to shove it in to give the Sens a 3 goal cushion.  Then at 3:50, Alfredsson wristed one by Vokoun and Sens fans were loving life.   2 late goals by the Panthers meant nothing, but what did was that Brian Elliott sustained some sort of injury to his right hand/arm when trying to make the save on Santorelli’s marker. The club will provide an update tomorrow.

Sens put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season and hope to make it 3 on Saturday night vs the Bruins.

Matt Carkner spoke on the team’s win and his tussle with Darcy Hordichuk.
