Sens Win 2-0 After Tragic Loss

Before the game even started Saturday evening, the Senators family was dealt some terrible news. The 14 year old daughter of assistant coach Luke Richardson, Daron, succumbed to injuries and died earlier in the day. To a man, the Senators wanted to play to show their support for the Richardson family….

And play they did. Erik Karlsson & Daniel Alfredsson scored against Tim Thomas, while Brian Elliott stopped 31 shots, and the Sens came away with a 2-0 over the Bruins on a night filled with emotion. Peculiar fights were a common occurrence in this game as Chris Neil squared off with Zdeno Chara (after pre-game footage showed the two shaking hands) and Mark Recchi dropped the gloves with Chris Campoli.

The Sens dealt Tim Thomas his first loss of the season and shut out the Bruins for the first time this year. Meanwhile, Brian Elliott recorded his 7th career shutout and Filip Kuba was credited an assist in his 1st game of the season.
