This one hurts.

The Senators’ offence played well.  They showed creativity, slick passing and good shot selection.  But what their strength was during this run of losses, became their weakness tonight.  Shoddy goaltending at the worst possible time, coupled with poor defensive coverage and the inability to hold onto a lead resulted in yet another defeat for this Senators team.

Its too bad.  Some of the big boys came out to play.  Jason Spezza was dangerous all night.  If not for a goal post and a huge glove save by Henrik Lundqvist, Mike Fisher would’ve scored 4 goals.  Nick Foligno was a man possessed.  But Sergei Gonchar seems to have lost his game, coughing up the puck for 2 Ranger goals, and Brian Elliott certainly should’ve had the 3rd Rangers goal.  If its not one thing, its another with this team.  Luckily, they’re back at it tomorrow night and hopefully can forget what SHOULD have been this evening.

One incident that may come up again in conversations tomorrow is the alleged blood flick of one, Matt Carkner.  After a fight between himself and Derek Boogaard, Ranger players accused Carkner of flicking blood at them.  Here’s what Carkner had to say when asked about it and what John Tortorella did not say.
