Sens Lose 4-3 (OT)

Well, you can’t say they didn’t show heart.

Check out the highlights  www.thescore.com

After falling behind 3-0 and on their way to yet another loss, the Senators did something they haven’t done in a long time.  Come back.  Late in the 2nd, Daniel Alfredsson got a gift as the Thrashers turned the puck over directly in front of their net.  All Alfie had to do was shoot it high, breaking his scoreless drought, and the Sens were down by 2.    Just before the 10 minute mark in the 3rd, Chris Neil would pull the Sens within 1 by banging the puck that Pavelec was trying to cover and forcing the puck across the goal line .  Finally, Jason Spezza would draw a penalty shot and make no mistake, shooting it by Pavelec and scoring his 1st ever penalty shot goal in 2 attempts.

The Senators had eliminated the 3 goal deficit and seemed to have momentum on their side entering overtime.

Cue the heartbreak.

A Jason Spezza drop pass would be the team’s undoing, yet again, as Bryan Little would come in all alone on Brian Elliott, snapping it upstairs, and giving the Thrashers the much coveted extra point.

The Senators came away with a point against an Eastern conference foe, something most fans didn’t think they would get after falling behind by 3 goals.  Unfortunately it wasn’t enough, and most Senator players were still disappointed with the loss.
