Sens Win 3-1 over Wild

Check out the highlights

Well, this one didn’t start well.   It was only 3:36 into the first when Kyle Brodziak finished a tic-tac-toe play from Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Martin Havlat to give the Wild a 1-0 lead.  Then, the Sens gave the Wild a 5 on 3 power-play after Gonchar & Ruutu took minor penalties but were able to kill them off.  Next, Chris Phillips was forced to make a huge save for Pascal Leclaire as a pass out front caught the goaltender out of position.  The Sens kept putting themselves in terrible positions and the Wild were only able to capitalize once.

Cue the 2nd period, where one of those things that could change a whole season around happened.  Kyle Brodziak scored what looked like the go-ahead goal, as he converted on a 2 on 1 with Mikko Koivu.  It wouldn’t count however, as the refs were calling a two many men on the ice penalty and the Sens went to the PP.  9 seconds into the powerplay, Nick Foligno would wrist a shot over Theodore’s shoulder and the Sens would go from being down 1, to being up 1.  An absolutely amazing turn of events.

The Senators would spend most of the third in the Wild end, practicing a consistent forecheck and getting some quality shots.  Pascal Leclaire made 23 saves over the course of the game, many when the team needed them most.  Chris Kelly added the empty netter, while Erik Karlsson recorded 3 assists.  Big win for the Senators, their 5th straight over the Minnesota Wild.
