Wow, could the Senators have played a better game?  I don’t think so.  The Senators dominated the Ducks with offensive pressure, slick passing and just being in the right place at the right time.  Only 1 problem.  They couldn’t hit the net.  At least not when it counted. Scoring chance after scoring chance was shot high, wide or directly into the feet of a defenceman.

Jonas Hiller still stopped 39 other Senator shots, as well as 3 Senator shooters, to steal the game for the Ducks and leave SBP with 2 points.  The Sens played a complete game.  Something they haven’t done in a very long time.  They were good defensively, were able to create opportunities and were getting timely goaltending.  But it didn’t matter.

In the end, you have to put the puck in the net, and this team just can’t seem to do it.  Yes, if they keep playing games like these, the puck will eventually go in.  But the Senators don’t have time.  Senator fans and players that still think they have a chance to make the playoffs know that they MUST get the 2 points when they dominate a team like they did tonight.  Games like these are absolutely killing them.

Here’s Clouston, Fisher, Foligno & Elliott talking about the disappointing loss despite playing so well.

One of the many POSITIVES that came out of the game was yet another beatdown by Matt Carkner.  This guy is becoming one of the most feared heavyweights in the league, having taken down Derek Boogaard, concussed Eric Godard, hurt Shawn Thornton and now, winning a decision over George Parros.  Here’s the fight.
