Sens Lose 3-2 to Sabres in OT

Check out the higlights

This game looked like every other game the Sens have played over the past 2 months.  Score first, then blow the lead with weak defensive play, followed by scattering opportunities throughout the remainder of the game.  Only this time, they got a bit of luck.

During a third period power-play, Sergei Gonchar fired one on net that eluded Ryan Miller and went into the net to tie the game at two.  Thing is, it should have never counted.  Nick Foligno & Andrej Sekera were battling in front with the Senators forward getting the last laugh, pushing Sekera away from the goalmouth and falling over Miller.  What should have been called goaltender interference, was not, and the Sens got a much needed break.

BUT….everything came back down to earth as the Sabres dominated the OT period, pressuring the Senators with multiple opportunities and finally capitalizing when defenceman Shaone Morrisonn received a pass from Jason Pominville and potted his own rebound to win the game.  The Sabres are now 9-3-1 going into the All-Star break and are making a run at the playoffs.  The Senators meanwhile have now lost 8 games in a row at home.

Here’s Cory Clouston, Nick Foligno & Daniel Alfredsson on yet another disappointing loss….
