Sens Practice Feb 17

The day started with the announcement that forward Colin Greening and defenceman Andre Benoit were called up from Binghamton to join the big squad.  Both players were in attendance for this morning’s practice.  As was Matt Carkner, Chris Neil and Alex Kovalev, all of whom were absent from yesterday’s scrimmage outside.  Afterwards, Clouston revealed that unless something occurs after today’s practice, Matt Carkner should be able to go tomorrow.  Also, Campoli & Gonchar both feel better today, but are still doubtful for the weekend.

Jesse Winchester skated lightly today and will again tomorrow, but is not available for the weekend.  Finally, Pascal Leclaire was on the ice for about half an hour today before practice, taking shots.  There is a possibility that he may practice next week and Clouston said that there is some optimism for a return before season’s end.

Listening to the radio call-in shows, many people have strong feelings one way or the other on whether Chris Phillips should stay and “mentor the young guys” during the rebuild.  Here’s Cory Clouston’s assessment of Phillips in regards to that role.
