Brian Elliott Traded to Avalanche

Brian Elliott has been traded to the Colorado Avalanche for goaltender Craig Anderson.  Anderson is expected to arrive by gametime this evening.

My take:  Another good move by Murray.  Anderson is an UFA at season’s end and therefore, the team doesn’t have to commit to him.  If they like what they see, they will be able to negotiate, but if not, they can just simply let him go.  Brian Elliott’s confidence had been shattered in Ottawa so a change of scenery will definitely do him some good.  With Leclaire looking like he will return before season’s end and Anderson making his arrival, the Sens will have two capable goaltenders for the remainder of the season, allowing them to send Lehner down to the AHL.

Here’s what Bryan Murray and Cory Clouston had to say about the trade and why it was made.
