Senators Win 5-1 Over Panthers

Check out the highlights

What a difference a goaltender makes!  Craig Anderson played 89:18 before allowing a goal as a Senator and the team FINALLY won its first home game in 2011.  Anderson made 23 saves and improved to 2-0-0 as a Senator.

Bobby Butler scored twice, with Colin Greening tallying his first NHL point on Butler’s 1st goal.  Butler has scored in 4 of his last 5 games and set a personal career high with 7 shots on net against the Panthers.  Jason Spezza had a goal and 2 assists, while Ryan Shannon added a goal and an assist.

As a group, the Senators seemed to be on the same page, consistently blocking shots and finding each other with the breakout pass.  The youth in the lineup brought a speed factor that was missed earlier in the season and the fact that most of them have played together in Binghamton seems to be an advantage.  Its the team’s first 2 game winning streak since Dec 23-26.

Here’s Craig Anderson on his success so far, with comments from Spezza & Butler on their goaltender’s play.
