Campoli traded to Blackhawks

Chris Campoli was traded to the Blackhawks with a conditional 7th round pick in 2012 (if they re-sign Potulny) for forward Ryan Potulny and a 2nd round pick in 2011. Chicago has the option to choose which of their 2nd round picks goes to Ottawa in the deal.

My take:  It was inevitable.  After Chris Phillips signed late last evening, either Chris Campoli or Filip Kuba had seen their last day as an Ottawa Senator.  Since Campoli was far more marketable to other teams, he was the likely candidate.  Murray gets yet another 2nd round pick to play with and a forward that will be mixed in immediately with this youthful Senator lineup.  The Blackhawks acquire a much needed defenceman after losing another one to long-term injury.  This deal is win-win; it gives Campoli a shot at a Cup run with a talented team, while the Senators receive some more assets for a player they probably weren’t going to tender at the end of the season.
