Sens Lose 5-1 to Penguins

Check out the highlights

No Crosby. No Malkin. No Problem.

The Ottawa Senators basically had no chance against the well-coached Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday evening.  For every effort the Senators made, the Penguins doubled it by skating harder, working smarter and scoring more often.  Despite missing 2 of the games biggest stars, this Penguin team worked like a well-oiled machine.  5 different goal scorers and multi-point games from Dustin Jeffrey, Paul Martin, Tyler Kennedy, Jordan Staal and Chris Kunitz demonstrated just how deep this Pittsburgh team is.  When (or if) Sidney Crosby returns, this team is already in playoff form, getting contributions from everybody.

The Senators, well, were simply out-classed.  The Penguins were not about to be outworked by a team formed mainly with AHL players and it showed.  Ryan Shannon had a strong game, attacking the net on numerous occasions and scoring the lone Senator goal.  Craig Anderson was….”average”….and unfortunately with this Senator team, “average” isn’t enough to win.
