The Ottawa Senators signed backup goaltender Alex Auld to a 1-year, 1 million dollar contract on Friday afternoon. Auld spent last season backing up Carey Price in Montreal and has played for the Senators once before, 43 games in 2000-09. In 223 NHL games, Auld has a 89-84-23 record with the Panthers, Rangers, Stars, Coyotes, Bruins, Senators, Canadiens & Canucks.
Bryan Murray spoke with the media shortly after the signing and discussed bringing Auld back to the Senators, whether he was looking for another forward & Ryan Shannon.

The Senators also re-signed forward Francis Lessard to a 1-year, 2-way contract. Lessard played 24 games for the Senators last season, recording 78 penalty minutes.
