Senators sign Tim Conboy

The Ottawa Senators made yet another “depth” move by signing defenceman Tim Conboy to a 1-year, 2-way contract on Monday.  Conboy spent last season with the Portland Pirates (Buffalo), recording 12 assists and a whopping 233 penalty minutes.  Conboy was a 7th round selection of the San Jose Sharks in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

With the likes of Jared Cowen, David Rundblad, Patrick Weircioch & Eric Gryba all looking to make it with the big club at some point this season, the signings of Conboy & Sweatt provide both depth and protection for the organization.  Whether it be due to injuries, call-ups or even poor play, Conboy and Sweatt can either fill the experienced-veteran role in Binghamton or the back-end fill-in on the Ottawa blue-line, much like Andre Benoit did last season.
