Senators Practice Oct 1; Heritage Jersey Unveiled

The Ottawa Senators unveiled their heritage jersey Saturday morning at an open practice that was part of their Puck Drop event.  Each player was introduced to the crowd and brought onto the ice, circling around the 20th anniversary logo.  Daniel Alfredsson led the charge, followed by Chris Phillips & Jason Spezza.  Here’s a video after the final player, Mika Zibanajed, made his way onto the ice.

As for practice, Jason Spezza & Matt Carkner did not take part.  Coach MacLean said that Spezza was taking a maintenance day, while Carkner was speaking with doctors.  Carkner is getting opinions on his knee and a decision on what they are going to do will be made on Monday.

Spezza said during his media availability that he has been given an “A” to wear this season, while MacLean also revealed that final cuts will come later today.

UPDATE: The Senators re-assigned 5 more players to Binghamton Saturday afternoon.  Goaltender Robin Lehner, defencemen Marc Borowiecki & Patrick Weircioch, as well as forwards Kaspars Daugavins & Mike Hoffman all are on their way to the Baby Sens.

With the injuries to Peter Regin, Matt Carkner & Jesse Winchester, David Rundblad & Stephane Da Costa will get an extra look.  Most likely, they both will be sent down once the injuries of those mentioned above are healed or non-factors.  It is believed that youngsters Mika Zibanejad & Jared Cowen have made the team, but nothing has been formally announced.
