Senators Practice Oct 17

The Senators held practice at the Bell Sensplex Monday morning.  Notable by their absences were Craig Anderson, Sergei Gonchar & Bobby Butler.  Anderson missed practice as he was tending to a family matter but is expected to return tomorrow.  Marc Lamothe was brought in to play net. Gonchar has a bruised ankle and is day-to-day. Coach MacLean said he did not expect Gonchar to play vs the Flyers.  Finally, Bobby Butler’s injured groin is much more serious than expected and a placement on the IR may be coming.

Towards the end of his meeting with the media, Paul MacLean revealed that Alex Auld will get the start against Philadelphia on Tuesday night.  While he admitted it had more to do with Anderson’s personal situation, he did say Auld’s play against the Capitals on Saturday night were a factor as well.  MacLean also spoke on whether he felt Mika Zibanejad was a NHL player, Sergei Gonchar’s play and how important the upcoming 3-game homestand is.
