Senators Lose 7-2 to Flyers

Check out the highlights

This one got ugly real early.  The Philadelphia Flyers outshot the Senators 10-3 in the first, but more importantly, outscored them 4-0, to give themselves a lead they would never relinquish.  Rookie Matt Read opened the scoring by banking one off of Alex Auld’s behind from a bad angle and the flood gates opened from there.  Power-play goals from Wayne Simmonds & Claude Giroux increased the lead to 3 and Max Talbot’s goal with a minute left in the frame put the finishing touch on the perfectly played road period.

Craig Anderson replaced Alex Auld to start the second and would allow three late goals in the final frame.  Jason Spezza scored with 1:01 left in the second period to eliminate any chance of a shutout by Bobrovsky.  The loss is the Senators’ third straight and the second straight game they’ve allowed 7 goals at home.  Ottawa gets the Jets on Thursday night at Scotiabank Place.

The Senators held a closed door meeting immediately after the game.  Once the doors opened, here’s what Coach MacLean, Alex Auld, Daniel Alfredsson & Jason Spezza had to say.
