Senators Win 4-1 Over Jets

Check out the highlights

Senators’ fans should be pleased after this game.  When the team needed to step back, take a look at themselves and determine whether they had a team that could compete at the NHL level, they played their best game of the season in beating the Jets 4-1.  Yes, Craig Anderson was the main reason, making 35 saves on 36 shots but that’s no surprise, as everybody knew that was going to have to be the case in order for this team to be successful.

What was a nice surprise was the play of the veteran forwards.  Jason Spezza tallied 3 points, as did Milan Michalek.  Daniel Alfredsson notched his 3rd goal of the season and led the team in a salute to the fans at the end of the game.  The Senators needed to win this game to improve morale and did so with the stars of this team littering their names all over the scoresheet.  It was gut-check time, and this team showed that they have the leadership and the character to survive the tough times and rally against the naysayers.  The Senators get the 0-5-1 Columbus Blue Jackets next on Saturday night.

Peter Regin left the game early Thursday night and did not return.  Apparently, he has re-injured the left shoulder that he had surgery on over the summer.  He will be re-evaluated tomorrow.
