Senators Practice Oct 24

After a day-off on Sunday, the Senators took to the ice at 11:00am Monday morning at SBP.  Daniel Alfredsson did not take part, while Bobby Butler wore a grey “non-contact” jersey.  Also participating was call-up Kaspars Daugavins, a surprising choice due to Nikita Filatov’s offensive surge down in Binghamton, but a deserving one nonetheless.

The lines were as follows:

Greening-Spezza-Michalek, Daugavins-Zibanejad-Foligno, Condra-Smith-Neil, Konopka-Da Costa-Winchester.

The reason for the call-up is due to a hip flexor injury that captain Daniel Alfredsson is battling.  Alfredsson will miss tomorrow night’s game against Carolina but the ailment is not considered serious.  He is expected to return on Thursday vs the Panthers.  As for Peter Regin, he is meeting with doctor’s today to find out his situation.  Apparently, he still has pain in his shoulder.

In news surrounding those that can play, Jason Spezza was named the league’s 2nd star of the week after posting 7 points (3 goals) in 3 games.

Finally, Bryan Murray spoke about Mika Zibanejad this morning.  Murray stated that he wasn’t sure if Zibanejad was NHL ready, and that they could sit the youngster for a game or two after his 9th contest before making a decision.
