Senators Practice Dec 12; Filatov to KHL

The Senators took to the ice for practice Monday morning at Scotiabank Place.  Other than Sergei Gonchar & Nikita Filatov, all hands were on deck.  Gonchar continues to be day-to-day after suffering an upper body injury against the Devils.  GM Bryan Murray says that Gonchar hopes to skate tomorrow, then join the team on the ice within the next couple of days.  Murray also said Filip Kuba is running the same timetable.

As for Filatov, he has been assigned to join HC CSKA Moscow in the KHL.  The hope that Filatov would live up to his potential with a change of scenery seems to have faded, at least for this season, as the Senators organization lends him to his former squad.  Here’s GM Bryan Murray, coach Paul MacLean and Jason Spezza on why Filatov didn’t make the team & whether the rumours of an attitude were true.

One other occurrence at practice saw assistant coach Mark Reeds take a puck in the face.  Reeds went off to get repairs and as coach MacLean said “Just a Bo-Bo, he’ll  be alright.”  Here were the lines:

Michalek-Spezza-Greening, Foligno-Regin-Alfredsson, Neil-Smith-Condra, Butler-Winchester-Daugavins-Konopka

D pairings – Phillips-Rundblad, Cowen-Karlsson, Lee-Carkner
