PreGame: Panthers vs Senators Dec 22

Plenty of news out of preskate this morning.  First off, Milan Michalek continued to skate with the team wearing a grey, non-contact jersey.  Afterwards, he announced that he would most likely return after the Christmas break, saying that he still needs to work on his conditioning.

Paul MacLean also gave 2 updates on 2 players this morning.  Firstly, the status of Jesse Winchester remains the same.  There is no timeframe for his return & he continues to be day-to-day.  Secondly, and the most surprising, is that Peter Regin is out indefinitely.  Regin re-injured his bad shoulder during the game on Tuesday night and needs to be re-evaluated.  Apparently, it stiffened up on him over the past couple of days and he will now need to decide how to proceed.  As a result, the Senators will play with 7 defenceman tonight.  Here’s MacLean on the Regin injury.

Finally, remember that faceoff Erik Karlsson took against Buffalo a week or so ago?  Apparently, the chirping he has received since doing so has made him want to improve his skills and he has begun to practice.  Here’s some footage and a couple of comments from No. 65 on faceoffs.
