Coming off the announcement of the 4 All-Star starters, the Senators were  hoping to extend their winning streak to 4 games.  It got off to a good start when Jason Spezza opened the scoring at 10:36 of the first period, chopping in a rebound past Dwayne Roloson.

After that however, the Lightning took it to the Senators.  If not for Craig Anderson, the Lightning could have easily taken over the game on the scoreboard.  The Bolts outshot the Senators 11-7 in the first and 16-8 in the second.  But they were unable to capitalize on 2 power-plays through the first 40 minutes, and even allowed Kyle Turris to score his first goal as a Senator on a delayed penalty.  The Lightning were not getting rewarded and you could see the frustration in their play and on their faces.

In the third, Steven Stamkos narrowed the lead to 1, but Zack Smith answered with just over 3 minutes to go to put the game away.  4-1 was the final as the Senators won their 4th straight game, and 6th in their last 8.  Craig Anderson finished with 35 saves and was named the games first star. Daniel Alfredsson had 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) while Kyle Turris added a goal and an assist.

The Senators now prepare for a home and home with the Philadelphia Flyers beginning Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm.

Craig Anderson, Daniel Alfredsson & Kyle Turris sing the goaltenders’ praises.  Turris also comments on his 1st Senator goal.
