Senators Practice Mar 7

Plenty of news from practice this afternoon at the Kanata Recreation Complex. Injured players Chris Phillips (broken nose), Jim O’Brien (upper body) & Jesse Winchester (concussion) all took part in today’s drills.  Phillips is expected to play tomorrow evening, while the progress of both O’Brien & Winchester is encouraging, but with no timetable.  Erik Karlsson, Jason Spezza & Craig Anderson, however, did not participate.  Coach MacLean later revealed that Spezza & Karlsson merely took maintenance days after playing big minutes in yesterday’s game vs Tampa Bay.

Coach MacLean also announced that Ben Bishop would start Thursday evening’s game against the Rangers.  Bishop is coming off a victory in his Senators debut, a 25 save effort vs the Tampa Bay Lightning.
