Plenty of news within the Senators organization this Wednesday morning.  To start it off, Jason Spezza scared the bejeezus out of Ottawa fans by electing to take the morning skate off.  Luckily, he is fine, well, at least fine enough to play, as he indicated he’s good to go.  Ben Bishop vs Carey Price will be the goaltending matchup for this evening’s game.

The Senators also announced the signing of free agent forward Cole Schneider to a 2-year contract.  Schneider recorded 23 goals & 22 assists in 38 games for the University of Connecticut Huskies.  Schneider set school single-season records with his goal & point totals.  Schneider will now sign an amateur try-out agreement & report to the Binghamton Senators.

Finally, Senator’s prospect Jakob Silfverberg was named Sweden’s Elitserien league’s MVP.   Silfverberg, who plays for Brynas IF, finished the season with 24 goals and 54 points in 49 games.  The 21 year-old left winger was the Senators 2nd round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
