Senators Win 3-1 Over Panthers

The Senators played the first of 2 dates in the Sunshine state with a rematch against their foes from Monday night, the Florida Panthers.  Craig Anderson shutout Florida in the last meeting and was hoping to continue his string of scoreless periods.

But it didn’t take long for the Panthers to reverse their fortunate from 3 days ago, scoring 8:24 into the first period on the power-play when Tomas Fleischmann beat Anderson to make it 1-0.  An unlikely source on the Senators power-play tied the game when Chris Phillips snuck one by Jose Theodore and it was 1-1 going into the second.

The middle period saw Craig Anderson make a few brilliant saves on one end, while Erik Karlsson capitalized on a Panther turnover at the other to give the Senators the lead heading into the final frame.

The third was highlighted by a rather brutal attempt at a penalty shot by Guillaume Latendresse, a Craig Anderson glove save on Peter Mueller and a Jason Spezza empty-netter as the Senators won their 2nd straight game over the Florida Panthers and improved to 3-0 on the season.

With the victory, Craig Anderson upped his record against Florida to 9-0-1.  Marc Methot recorded 2 assists to lead the team.
