Senators Win 3-2 Over Hurricanes

What a return for No. 2!

A momentum shifting hit at centre ice, followed by 2 in-response fights was certainly a night to remember for Jared Cowen, especially since he wasn’t even supposed to suit up for one game this season.  There were moments that he definitely looked a bit rusty, but overall, Jared Cowen barely skipped a beat in playing his first game since last year.

Mika Zibanejad opened the scoring on a slick give and go with Cory Conacher.  Milan Michalek’s 2nd goal in as many games since returning from knee surgery made it 2-0, while Chris Neil finished a 2 on 1 with Guillaume Latendresse to put the Sens up 3-1 late in the second.

Craig Anderson made 32 saves in the victory, including a desperate two pad stack glove save on Joe Corvo.

The Senators next game is Thursday against the Washington Capitals.

Jared Cowen discusses why he waited to return, his performance, getting into 2 fights and how it felt on the ice.
