Senators vs Capitals PreGame Apr 25

The Senators took to the ice a bit earlier than usual at the Verizon Center in Washington Thursday morning.  Obviously, all eyes were on Erik Karlsson, who began taking regular rotations with partner Marc Methot.  Shortly after, Karlsson lead the morning stretch, a reliable indicator that No. 65 would indeed be returning from the Achilles injury he sustained on February 13th against the Penguins.

Here were the lines:

Conacher-Turris-Michalek

Greening-Smith-Alfredsson

Condra-Zibanejad-Silfverberg

Latendresse-Pageau-Neil

D-pairings – Marc Methot-Erik Karlsson, Jared Cowen-Sergei Gonchar, Chris Phillips-Eric Gryba

Anderson to start. Lehner to backup.

So, once preskate was over and the players went back into the locker room, it was only a matter of time before word of Karlsson’s official return spread.  The 23 year old confirmed his entry into the lineup, marking an incredible recovery from a gruesome injury.

With No. 65’s return, Patrick Wiercioch joins Mike Lundin, Andre Benoit, Jim O’Brien, Peter Regin & Matt Kassian in the press box.
