The Senators held an optional skate at the Bell Centre this morning prior to Game 2 of their Eastern Conference playoff series. 13 skaters in total elected to hit the ice. They included Andre Benoit, Cory Conacher, Erik Condra, Matt Kassian, Guillaume Latendresse, Mike Lundin, Jim O’Brien, J-G Pageau, Peter Regin, Jakob Silfverberg, Zack Smith, Patrick Wiercioch, Mika Zibanejad & Robin Lehner.
As you may have noticed, Eric Gryba did not take part as he was awaiting his discipline hearing at 12pm.
Afterwards, it became a war of words between the Habs and Senators over what was said last evening. Here are some examples taken from twitter.
Exact words by Prust about MacLean: We don’t really care about what that big eyed fat walrus has to say
#Habs Therrien: MacLean showed “lack of respect to Eller and his family in stands.” Adds that rules have changed. No longer the 70s, 80s.
Paul MacLean: “Everyone was blaming my player, all I did was point out what happened. I feel bad the kid got hurt.”
MacLean on Prust: “I’m just trying to coach the game. They can say whatever they want to say. I am who I am and it doesn’t matter to me.”
In addition to Lars Eller, it was also revealed that both Brian Gionta & Max Pacioretty will miss this evening’s game with upper body injuries.
