Daniel Alfredsson Wins Mark Messier Leadership Award

Daniel Alfredsson was the one constant in a year of changing parts.  While the organization suffered through injuries to many of its top stars, the captain of the Ottawa Senators was in the lineup night in and night out, giving 110 percent at both ends of the ice.  On most nights, it was clear he was the most talented player to slide on the Senators jersey, despite playing in his 17th NHL season.  On every night, he rarely got outworked.

So the 40 year old adds the Leadership award to his trophy case, joining the King Clancy he won last year and the Calder trophy he won in his first season.  Quite the accomplishment for the 133rd overall selection in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

Question is, will he come back for one more season to defend the title?
