Senators Lose 5-0 to Flyers

Ugh.

After posting 3 straight wins and convincing the fan base that they were turning things around, the Ottawa Senators laid an egg Tuesday night, beaten by a struggling Flyers team 5-0.

All the talk heading into this one was whether or not Coach MacLean had made a mistake by starting Craig Anderson rather than Robin Lehner.  Lehner was named the NHL’s first star of the week, going 3-0 in wins over the Blue Jackets, Habs & Panthers.  But it wouldn’t have mattered who was in net on this night.

Never-ending turnovers, sloppy defensive play and overall listlessness would describe Ottawa’s effort.  This team may have been guilty of taking this game for granted and it showed.  Nobody played well and the result was one of the easiest shutouts of Steve Mason’s career.

The Senators better buckle up – they’ve got the big, bad Bruins coming to town on Friday night.
