Senators Lose 4-1 to Blue Jackets

Just when everyone thought they were turning it around, the Ottawa Senators reaffirmed that they still don’t have their **** together.

Coming off a game where they rallied against a formidable opponent, most fans felt the Senators were finally forming an identity and were figuring out what type of team they want to be.

Instead, the same old habits that plagued them earlier in the season reared their ugly heads on Sunday –  an extremely sluggish start, minimal puck control in their own zone and untimely penalties.  Columbus scored 3 straight power-play goals over the course of 2 periods to put this game away.  In fact, the Blue Jackets wasted no time when getting the man advantage as all 3 goals came within 30 seconds of the penalty being called ( 12, 8, 24 seconds)

Derek MacKenzie & Erik Karlsson traded goals in the third as the Blue Jackets left Ottawa with a 4-1 win.

While most of the players could’ve been accused of being non-chalant and lackadaisical, one who could not was Mark Borowiecki.  Before the game went final, Mark Borowiecki threw a hit on Jared Boll, fought James Wisniewski instantly and was thrown out of game.  While there is debate as to whether he deserved it – he received 5 minutes for elbowing, 5 for fighting and a game misconduct.
